NEW!!     EASYJET and CONSTABLE POINT FLIGHT SERVICE

Tangent Expeditions launches “Air Dragons”, the new charter flight service between Reykjavik, Akureyri and Constable Point (northeast Greenland). This replaces the previous Air Iceland flights that no longer operate.

This is complimented by the announcement of new Easyjet flights from Luton, Manchester and Edinburgh starting in March 2013, greatly reducing prices between the UK and Iceland. These flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Friday and Sundays from Luton; on Thursdays and Sundays from Manchester; and on Mondays and Thursdays from Edinburgh.

2013 sees a major change in the way the east coast of Greenland will be accessed for the next 2 years after the Greenland Home Rule have announced the cessation of all flights between Iceland and Constable Point. In response to this Tangent Expeditions will be operating “Air Dragons”, a once weekly charter flight service from Reykjavik/Akureyri to Constable Point.

Flights will operate on the following dates to cover the most popular winter sports and dog sledding season and will allow us to continue our expeditions as planned:

13 MAR, 21 MAR, 26 MAR, 04 APR, 11 APR, 18 APR, 25 APR, 02 MAY, 09 MAY, 16 MAY

From Reykjavik the flight will be serviced by Fokker or Dash-8.
From Akureyri the flight will be serviced by Twin Otter.

The aircraft and departure airport used will depend on numbers of people booked before 31 December 2012. It is very important that people provisionally book these seats as soon as possible so that we can guarantee this service.

Any charter flight that is not 60% full by 31 December 2012 will be cancelled and passengers will be required to book flights via Denmark and the west coast of Greenland with Air Greenland.

Please contact me immediately if you wish to use this service and advise of approximate numbers of passengers and dates. Prices will be slightly more expensive than the previously subsidised Air Iceland fares, but should be cheaper than flying with Air Greenland via Kangerlussuaq on the west coast. Final prices will be announced in November when we have a better idea of demand and anticipated numbers of passengers. The combined Easyjet / Air Dragons total fares should only amount to a small rise from 2012 prices.

Tangent will of course be bringing many of our own passengers and cargo on these flights, but seats are available to anyone on a first come first served basis. Independent groups are therefore requested to contact Tangent Expeditions immediately in order to secure their preferred dates. A cargo service is also available.
