TYPICAL ITINERARY FOR A GREENLAND MOUNTAINEERING EXPEDITION

DAY 1

Fly from home country to Keflavik International airport, Iceland.
Coach transfer to Reykjavik (45 minutes).
Taxi to guesthouse. Overnight in guesthouse.

DAY 2

Taxi to Reykjavik domestic airport.
Fly Reykjavik to Isafjordur in northwest Iceland.
(East coast expeditions)
Fly Reykjavik to Constable Point, Greenland.
(northeast Greenland expeditions)
Twin Otter ski plane charter flight to mountain glacier base camp.
Establish base camp on the glacier.

DAY 3

Begin expedition climbing and ski touring phase.

 

 

DAY T-4

Finish climbing and touring phase. Pack up base camp on glacier.

DAY T-3

Twin Otter flight from base camp to Isafjordur / Constable Point.

DAY T-2

Fly Isafjordur / Constable Point to Reykjavik.
Taxi to guesthouse. Overnight at guesthouse.

DAY T-1

Sightseeing day in and around Reykjavik.
Group final meal and beers in Reykjavik!
Overnight at guesthouse.

DAY T

Taxi to coach terminal.
Coach transfer to Keflavik International airport.
Return flight to home country.

 
NOTES
One full spare day is recommended at the end of the expedition in case of bad weather delays returning from the mountains to Iceland. Delays of one or more days can and do occur. All additional expenses arises from such delays are the responsibility of the client.
Some expeditions will fly via the town of Akureyri in north Iceland, instead of via Isafjordur.

Some expeditions heading to north and northeast Greenland may also overnight for one night at Constable Point in east Greenland at either the beginning or the end of the expedition. This depends on times of connecting flights and possible weather delays
