Phil Poole

Phil is an IFMGA Mountain Guide and has worked for Tangent leading Greenland expeditions since 2003. He has extensive polar experience and has worked for the British Antarctic Survey as a field guide.

Phil has been climbing, canoeing, caving and skiing for over 35 years and has instructional qualifications in all these disciplines. He was a member of the British Mountain Guides Training Committee from 1996 - 2003 and ran the summer training scheme for new candidates to the Association during that time.

He ran his own alpine guiding company for many years and has led several past Greenland expeditions for Tangent, including trips to Liverpool Land, Milne Land, the Watkins Mountains and the US Navy air crash investigation to the Kronborg Glacier (east Greenland). He was recently seen on the TV guiding Gryff Rhys Jones up Napes Needle for a documentary!

When not in the mountains, he works for Windermere based Impact International, a multi national management training company, where he advises on safety and trains and assesses staff for outdoor qualifications.
